ABOUT
Yamamoto Architecture was founded in 1991 by Tomizo Yamamoto and has practiced extensively throughout the lower mainland for over thirty years. The Principal of Yamamoto Architecture, Taizo Yamamoto, grew up in North Vancouver and spent time working in San Francisco and New York after completing his Architectural Degree at McGill University in Montreal. Since 2003, Yamamoto Architecture has grown from a staff of 3 to over 35 talented team members, including experienced Architects, Architectural Interns, Technologists, and energetic recent graduates.
The design philosophy of Yamamoto Architecture has evolved through close collaboration with our clients and years of experience bringing designs to completion. We aim to create projects that are quiet landmarks, embraced by their neighbourhoods and free from a signature style. We feel that every project should reinforce neighbourhood character, creating a strong connection to its place and serving as a testament to our client’s vision. Our strength lies in our design and problem-solving ability, our collaborative way of working with clients and municipalities, and in establishing clear concepts that drive elegant and constructible buildings.
While recognized for its multi-family residential buildings, Yamamoto Architecture works at a wide range of scales and typologies, including custom single-family homes, mixed-use apartments, and residential and commercial high-rise. We are especially committed to the construction of new rental housing and are helping to shape municipal policies that will help deliver much-needed homes.
