West5 is a five storey building featuring ground level retail and four levels of residential apartments above. The site is constrained by the Burrard Slopes View Cone, and the design compresses the building mass, allowing for a larger footprint while adhering to the maximum allowable height. A staggered floor plate maximizes allowable outdoor space and roof deck areas for each unit.
West5 complements the neighbourhood’s retail character while adapting it into a mixed-use typology. The residential scale is acknowledged through the varied balcony recesses, creating large open spaces and expansive views while preserving a simple form.
