UEA Lab – Uncovering the Ground
Uncovering the Ground is a short video that was presented at the Urban Experience Alliance Culture in Place Symposium on June 11th, 2026. This project explores how Indigenous knowledge is a crucial part of shaping how we plan, design, and develop our cities in a meaningful way.
The video proposes a tool for sharing work focused on Indigenous stories of place uncovered through the consultation and design of a project. This process is presented as an alternative to the limited way most projects are conceived and built within the framework of land use policies. The video suggests how an accumulation of projects and the stories they reveal could create a new map imbued with narrative and a deeper connection to the land.
Special thanks to Tak Yukawa and Central City for their support on this UEA Lab initiative.
